USACE to re-nourish 1.3-miles of beach south of Fort Pierce Jetty

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, in partnership with the St. Lucie County Erosion District, will begin beach renourishment operations at Fort Pierce, Florida, on or about March 9, 2023.

USACE begins beach placement on Indian Beach Park segment of ongoing shoreline protection project in Miami Beach

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Miami Beach Renourishment project will begin sand placement at the southern end of the Indian Beach Park section of the project (beginning at approximately 43rd Street) starting the week of June 13, 2022.

Corps hosts combined public meeting for Miami-Dade Back Bay and Miami-Dade County Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Studies

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a combined National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) public scoping meeting Wednesday December 5 for both the Miami-Dade County Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Feasibility Study and the Miami-Dade Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study to better serve members of the public and stakeholders with a common interest in both projects, and will accept public scoping comments for both projects until January 9, 2019.

Fort Pierce shore protection project operations to start soon

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced that dredging operations related to the Fort Pierce Shore Protection Project will start mid-April. The project will place 385,000 cubic yards of sand on just under one mile of eroded beach in St. Lucie County. Sand placement will start immediately adjacent to the Fort Pierce Inlet South Jetty and move southward.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and representatives from Pinellas County will host a public meeting on the Pinellas County Beach renourishment project Wednesday, March 28 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Indian Shores Municipal Facility.

Duval County shore protection project restarts next week

Duval County beach residents and visitors will soon see more work on local beaches that will improve the coastal area’s resiliency and reduce risk to infrastructure. The project will reinitiate next week with the goal of restoring protection features prior to the start of hurricane season, June 1.
