Environmental report on proposed shoreline stabilization projects available for review

Jacksonville, Fla. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is taking comments for the next 30 days on an environmental impact statement report for two shoreline stabilization projects proposed by the Town of Palm Beach and Palm Beach County.

The 30-day comment period for the two shoreline stabilization projects opened June 17 and ends July 18.

The Corps will evaluate the projects as two independent, but similar actions. The two similar projects include beach construction and nourishment and dune restoration projects between Florida Department of Environmental Protection R-monuments 129-210 and R-138+551 and sand placement with construction of seven low profile, shore perpendicular groins near Lantana Public Beach. The Corps evaluated six build alternatives as well as sand source alternatives.
