1. DESCRIPTION
The Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) project authorizes a channel 12 feet deep by 125 feet wide from Jacksonville, Florida south to Fort Pierce, Florida, and a channel 10 feet deep by 125 feet wide from Ft. Pierce, Florida south to Miami, Florida. The length of the project is approximately 349 miles running from the St. Johns River in northeast Florida southward along the east coast to Miami, Florida.

4. STATUS
On 3 September 1997, the US Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, and the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) executed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to contribute funds for the Operation and Maintenance of both the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW). Since that date, FIND has provided over $70,000,000 for the O&M of the IWW and AIWW.
In 2024 O&M dredging was complete for the IWW Matanzas Reach but also awarded O&M dredging contract of the IWW Volusia Reach. Funding in FY 25 will be used to complete plans & specifications and award for the combined reaches of IWW Crossroads and Jupiter Inlet areas. FIND to contribute 100% funds to complete plans & specification and award the IWW Bakers Haulover reach. Funding for FY26 will be used to complete plans and specifications for the Brevard reach of the IWW.
