1. DESCRIPTION

Jacksonville Harbor is located in Duval County, Florida. The Harbor consists of 20 river miles starting at the mouth of the St. Johns River where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean. The authorized project (WRRDA 2014) includes deepening the Federal channel to 47 feet from the entrance channel to approximately River Mile 13; two areas of widening at the Training Wall Reach and St. Johns Bluff Reach; and two new turning basins at Blount Island and Brills Cut.

4. STATUS

The district has awarded 2 deepening contracts (A & B) covering approximately 8 river miles of the St. Johns River. The total awarded value of these contracts was approximately $230 million. The next contract, Contract C is scheduled for advertisement in June 2020 followed by award in September 2020. The estimated value of this contract is $250 million and will dredge 3 additional river miles. Overall completion of the project is scheduled for 2023.
