3-D Island is one of the Port of Tampa's two dredge material management areas, and spoil islands have an incredible diversity of nesting shorebird species than any other spot in the state. The multi-terraced area has wading regions, swafts of grass for nesting, and plenty of food. The islands provide a secure refuge for wildlife.
