Everglades Harbor

1. DESCRIPTION
The project consists of a channel 8 feet deep and 60 feet wide from that depth in the Gulf of Mexico to mile 1.5 in Barron River, with a turning basin about 0.5 acre in area near the upper end. The length of project is about 9.2 miles. Public Law 86-645, approved July 14, 1960, authorized the improvement of the Everglades harbor and channel in Collier County, Florida, in accordance with House Document No. 147, 86th Congress, First Session.

4. STATUS
Everglades Harbor was last dredged in 1965. A special use permit issued by the United States Department of Interior for work within Marjorie Stoneman Douglas designated submerged wilderness will be needed. New NEPA and permits are required. SAV suveys and cultural resource surveys were completed in 2024. Plans and specifications to be completed in FY25 for advertisement FY26.
