Corps awards contract for maintenance dredging of Palm Beach Harbor

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, has awarded a $5,911,728 contract to Cashman Dredging & Marine Contracting Co., LLC, of Quincy, Massachusetts, for maintenance dredging of Palm Beach Harbor, Florida. The project, undertaken in partnership with the Port of Palm Beach, will be 100 percent federally funded.

Corps announces southeast Florida sediment morphodynamics contract award

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces the award of a Sediment Morphodynamic Assessment Project contract that will examine sediment transport in southeast Florida over the next two years. The project monitoring and modeling will support the Corps’ navigation and coastal flood risk management missions from Palm Beach to Miami-Dade County.

Environmental report on proposed dike repairs available for final comment

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District is taking comments for the next 30 days on an environmental report related to the rehabilitation of Herbert Hoover Dike surrounding Lake Okeechobee. The comment period for the final environmental impact statement on the Herbert Hoover Dike Dam Safety Modification Study opens today (June 3) and will remain open until Sunday, July 3. The document focuses on the potential environmental impacts related to the Corps’ recommended plan to complete rehabilitation on the dike.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today announced the withdrawal of the Lake Worth Inlet, Palm Beach Harbor Florida Department of Environmental Protection permit application for the authorized deepening and widening project.

Corps achieves Lake Worth Inlet milestone

A group of experts from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District, Port of Palm Beach and the local Harbor Pilots Association, achieved a victory when they received approval to release the final Integrated Feasibility Report for the Lake Worth Inlet study, which is now available. Palm Beach County Beach Erosion Control Project work update

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced today that construction activities are ongoing with the Palm Beach County Beach Erosion Control Project. The work is in response to impacts from Hurricane Sandy’s passage in 2012. Beach nourishment provides significant storm damage protection benefits for upland structures in addition to restoring shorebird and marine turtle habitat.

Little Lake Worth and Turtle Cove removed as potential locations for mitigation

The Lake Worth Inlet Feasibility Study proposes to deepen and widen the Federal channel from Lake Worth Inlet to the Port of Palm Beach. Due to significant comments received from stakeholders during the review period, Little Lake Worth and Turtle Cove have been removed as potential locations for seagrass mitigation.
