A Memorandum of Agreement with the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) to contribute funds for the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of both the IWW and Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) was executed on 3 September 1997. Since that date, FIND has provided over $65,000,000 for the O&M of the IWW and AIWW.
A construction contract for O&M dredging was awarded in September 2018 for approximately 600K cubic yards of material to be removed out of the Federal channel. 95% of this material is beach quality and will be placed on the beach at Amelia Island State Park. The remainder of the material will be dredged and placed in the already constructed dredge material management area DU-2.
