    PICAYUNE STRAND, Fla. (Jan. 29, 2026) – Maj. Gen. Jason E. Kelly, deputy commanding general for Civil and Emergency Operations, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, has visited Picayune Strand throughout its many phases of restoration and in various roles during his career. The Picayune Strand Restoration Project is restoring more than 55,000 acres of land. Restoration benefits are being observed in rehydrated areas, including the reestablishment of native plant communities and the return of animals such as wood storks and the endangered Florida panther.     NAPLES, Fla. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District, along with federal, state, and local partners celebrated the completion of the Picayune Strand Restoration Project earlier today during a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Miller Pump Station in Naples, FL.

    USACE celebrates completion of Caloosahatchee C-43 Reservoir Pump Station

    HENDRY COUNTY, Fla.  -  (Dec. 19, 2023) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District (USACE) joined federal, state and local officials to celebrate the completion of a new pump station for the Caloosahatchee (C-43) Reservoir Project today. The C-43 Reservoir, once completed, will hold approximately 170,000 acre-feet of water (55 billion gallons) and is part of the state-federal Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) to restore the environment and make our water resources more resilient.

    Today, federal, state, and local leaders joined JAXPORT and the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District to celebrate the completion of the Jacksonville Harbor Deepening Project through JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal. The project deepened 11 miles of the federal shipping channel—from the sea buoy to Blount Island—to a depth of 47 feet from its previous depth of 40 feet.
