  • 2018 work-plan includes $143 million for projects in Florida and Puerto Rico

    The $1.7 billion work-plan for Fiscal Year 2018 Civil Works appropriations, released by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers June 11, includes $143 million for Jacksonville District’s continuing navigation, flood and coastal storm damage reduction and aquatic ecosystem restoration projects in Florida and Puerto Rico.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a maintenance dredging contract for the Jacksonville Harbor. Work includes maintenance dredging 38- and 40-foot projects, Cut-7 through Cut -45, Cut-55, Cut-G, and the Lower Terminal Channel, in Duval County.
  • Vilano Beach receives much needed sand

    Vilano Beach is receiving beach-compatible sand through the beneficial use of dredged material from navigation projects, helping to reduce vulnerabilities and improve coastal resiliency in a community north of the St. Augustine Inlet. A wider beach will help separate storm waves from upland structures and infrastructure.
