U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District to host Everglades Restoration workshop

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (June 27, 2011) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District will host a public workshop June 28 on the Combined Operational Plan (COP). The meeting will be held at the Miami-Dade College, West Campus Room 1101, 3800 NW 115th Avenue, Doral, Fla. The purpose of the COP is to define operations for the features of the Modified Water Deliveries (MWD) and Canal-111 South Dade (C-111 SD) projects, while maintaining the Congressionally-authorized multiple purposes of the Central and Southern Florida (C&SF) Project to provide flood control, water supply for municipal, industrial, and agricultural uses, prevention of saltwater intrusion, water supply for Everglades National Park and protection of fish and wildlife.

 

The formal portion of the workshop will begin at 7:00 p.m. Technical experts will be available prior to and after the formal presentation to provide information and answer questions about the Modified Waters Deliveries (MWD) and the C-111 South Dade projects and development of the operational plan.
