Restoration, Coordination, Verification (RECOVER) announces a 30-day public and agency review and comment period for RECOVER recommendations for the 2026 Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) Monitoring and Assessment Plan (MAP).

RECOVER is an interdisciplinary collaboration of agencies, tribes, and institutions that conducts scientific and technical evaluations and assessments to improve CERP’s ability to restore, preserve, and protect the south Florida ecosystem while providing for the region’s other water-related needs.

The CERP MAP is an integrated system-wide monitoring and assessment plan that:

  1. provides a framework that supports measurement of system-wide responses in order to determine how well CERP is achieving its goals and objectives
  2. supports and enables adaptive management for updating and improving the Plan when needed.

In 2024, RECOVER initiated a review of the 2009 MAP to inform you of a 2026 MAP update. The primary purpose of the MAP review was to present recommendations for a revised MAP by considering changes that have occurred since 2009, including changes to the conceptual ecological models, hypothesis clusters, and individual monitoring components.

The RECOVER recommendations for the 2026 CERP MAP update describes the set of recommendations, which represent the parsimonious set of metrics that need to be monitored to determine if CERP is meeting its goals and objectives.
