Indian River Lagoon - South C-23/24 Reservoirs and Stormwater Treatment Area (STA) Project Status

The Indian River Lagoon, home to more than 3,000 species of plants and animals, is considered the most biologically diverse estuarine system in the continental United States. The C-23 and C-24 Reservoirs and Stormwater Treatment Area are the second set of components of the multi-billion dollar Indian River Lagoon-South (IRL-S) project, part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).

  • Initial Construction contract scheduled for award in 2024 and funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL)
  • Follow-on construction contracts scheduled for award in 2025

C-23/C-24 South Reservoir

  • Design ongoing by the non-Federal sponsor, the South Florida Water Management District
  • Initial Construction contract award scheduled for 2024 by the South Florida Water Management District.

Indian River Lagoon - South C-23/C-24 Reservoir and STA Public Comment (Archive)

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announces public comment on the Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for proposed design refinements to the Indian River Lagoon - South (IRL-S) Project, specifically to the C-23 and C-24 features in St. Lucie County. The IRL-S Project is one project that is part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). Public comments are due Wednesday, April 21, 2021.
