1. DESCRIPTION
Brevard County is located on the east coast of Florida at the approximate midpoint of the peninsula. The authorized project has been divided into three segments: North Reach, South Reach and Mid-Reach. The North Reach consists of restoration of 9.4 miles of shoreline extending from the south jetty at Canaveral Harbor to the northern limit of Patrick Air Force Base (PAFB). The South Reach consists of restoration of 3.4 miles of shoreline and is bounded by PAFB to the north and Spessard Holland Park to the south. This section was originally 10.5 miles long, but 7.8 miles were excluded because of near shore hard grounds. The 7.8 miles that were excluded from the original report were studied and approved in a General Reevaluation Report (GRR) and are now referenced as the Mid Reach. This segment was conditionally authorized by WRDA 2000 Section 418 and WRDA 2007 Section 3045. The 4.5 miles of PAFB shoreline have been excluded from the project per their request.

4. STATUS
North Reach – Construction along 3.8 miles of the North Reach completed in May 2021. This contract placed a total of 472,526 cubic yards and was funded with O&M to fill the eroded template.
Mid and South Reaches –Mid-Reach - The Mid-Reach, South Reach, and Patrick Air Force Base projects were combined into one contract and awarded in September 2019. Mid-Reach initial construction completed in April 2020 and the South Reach segment was complete in May 2021 due to environmental window. 461,088 cubic yards of material were placed along the Mid-Reach segment and 722,988 cubic yards was placed within South Reach segment. In addition, 443,376 cubic yards of material was placed within the Patrick Air Force Base segment that was completed in May 2021.
