USMC Blount Island Dredging (O&M)

1. DESCRIPTION

The work consists of maintenance dredging the 38-foot slip basin at the U.S. Marine Support Facility Blount Island, Jacksonville, Florida.

4. STATUS

Approximately 125,000 cubic yards is maintenance dredged every year. Dredged material is placed in the Dayson Island upland disposal area. Effort in FY19 includes condition surveys, plans and specifications, and award of the O&M dredging contract. The next maintenance event is scheduled for award in April 2019. In addition, a contract will be awarded in August 2019 to remove a reinforced concrete sill which is a limiting factor for overall depth in the slipway. It will take up to a year to remove the concrete sill.
