Collier County FL Beach Erosion Control Project (I)

Collier County is located on the south west coast of Florida about 120 miles south of the entrance to Tampa Bay and about 100 miles north of Key West. Naples is the largest city located along the shoreline in the county. The Feasibility Study was authorized by Section 4033 of Water Resources Development Act of 2007 (P.L. 110-114). Whereby the Secretary shall conduct a study to determine the feasibility of carrying out a project for hurricane and storm damage reduction and flood damage reduction in the vicinity of Vanderbilt, Park Shore, and Naples beaches, Collier County, Florida.
Project is funded under P.L. 115-123: Bi-Partisan Budget Act of 2018, Supplemental. Project is brokered to Norfolk District (NAO). NAO manages the project to include the funding and financial data.

A Feasibility Cost Share Agreement (FCSA) was executed, and the SMART Planning study began in October 2018. An Alternatives Milestone Meeting (AMM) was held in January 2019. The Project Delivery Team is currently studying 14 alternative plans ranging from the no-action alternative to a combination alternative consisting of structural and nonstructural measures, as well as natural and nature based features for storm damage reduction and flood damage reduction.
