1. DESCRIPTION

Maintenance of a stone breakwater 1,200 feet long between Point Morrillos and Cocinera Rock; channel 25 feet deep, 400 feet wide, flared to 650 feet wide at ocean entrance, and widened for inner 650 feet to form a maneuvering area of the same depth and 900 feet wide fronting the proposed deep-water terminal.

4. STATUS

The last maintenance dredging contract was awarded in March 2008. The harbor received damages from Hurricane Maria & Irma. The next maintenance event is scheduled for award in September 2019. Section 103 concurrence, which is for the use of ocean disposal site with EPA, was initiated in the summer of FY 2018. This effort will be completed by June of 2019. Advertisement of the project is scheduled for July 2019. Approximately 80K Cubic Yards of material is estimated to be dredge.
