EMERGENCY DREDGING OPERATIONS

REFERENCE:  Title 33 CFR Navigation and Navigable Waters

1. Notice to Navigation Interests

Notice is given that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Jacksonville District is planning
emergency dredging operations using the Corps Dredge Murden to dredge a portion of Cut-4N, Cut-3N
and the Cut-3N-1S Widener to a depth of -8 feet MLLW plus 2 feet of overdepth (approximately 15,000
cubic yards of material) in Ponce De Leon Inlet and portions of Cut V-27 and Cut V-28
(approximately 10,000) in the Intracoastal Waterway, Vicinity of  Volusia to a depth of -12 feet
MLLW plus 2 feet of overdepth. This emergency dredging is required to maintain  safe navigation.
The dredged material will be placed into the nearshore dredged material placement area off of New
Smyrna Beach south of Ponce De Leon Inlet. Mariners are requested to stay clear of the Corps dredge
during dredging operations.
