REFERENCE:
a. 33 CFR Navigation and Navigable Waters
1. Notice to Navigation
Notice is given that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been notified of the following scheduled fender repair of the CSX Railroad Bridge in Indiantown. The following provides pertinent information:
PCL Civil Constructors Inc, acting on behalf of the bridge owner, CSX Transportation, has requested to temporarily block the channel alternating between the southern opening (right descending channel) and the northern opening (left descending channel) of the CSX Railroad Swing Bridge across the Okeechobee Waterway (St Lucie Canal), mile 28.2 at Indiantown, Florida. The operating regulation, 33 CFR §117.317(e) will remain in effect.
Under this temporary authorization, PCL Civil Constructors is authorized to block the waterway beneath the CSX Railroad Swing Bridge during the designated times and under the following conditions:
- Right descending channel completely closed to marine traffic and blocked by work barge.
- Left descending channel open to marine traffic.
During non-work hours all in-water equipment shall be properly lighted.
The U.S. Coast Guard will announce a detailed schedule to the temporary channel restriction in the Local Notice to Mariners and via a Broadcast Notice to Mariners.
This authorization may not be changed or extended without written approval from the U.S. Coast Guard. This temporary authorization is conditional and may be withdrawn at any time if the U.S. Coast Guard determines that the safety of human life, the environment, or the needs of navigation become endangered.
The imposition of civil penalties may result for failure to ensure that all requirements of this temporary authorization are followed in their entirety.
