1. Notice to Navigation
Notice is given that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been notified of the following scheduled
closure of the CSX Railroad Bridge in Indiantown, Florida for underground utility installation. The following provides pertinent information:
PCL Civil Constructors Inc, acting on behalf of the bridge owner, CSX Transportation, has requested to temporarily deviate from drawbridge operating regulations and block the channel in the southern opening of the Seaboard Systems Railroad Swing Bridge over the St Lucie Canal (Okeechobee Waterway) mile 28.2 at Indiantown, Florida.
From 7 a.m. on July 26, 2021 through 5:30 p.m. on July 28, 2021 the bridge will remain closed to navigation, except that on July 27, 2021 at 11 a.m. the bridge will open for the passage of vessels.
- At all times, the southern channel (right descending channel) will be blocked and no vessel may pass.
- At all times, the northern channel (left descending channel) shall remain clear for vessels able to pass without an opening.
- Work will be conducted during the hours of 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; during non-work hours all in-water equipment shall be properly lighted.
The U.S. Coast Guard will announce a detailed schedule to the temporary channel restriction in the Local Notice to Mariners and via a Broadcast Notice to Mariners.
This authorization may not be changed or extended without written approval from the U.S. Coast Guard. This temporary authorization is conditional and may be withdrawn at any time if the U.S. Coast Guard determines that the safety of human life, the environment, or the needs of navigation become endangered.
The imposition of civil penalties may result for failure to ensure that all requirements of this temporary authorization are followed in their entirety.
