  • Corps announces gradual reopening of camping and recreation areas closed due to COVID-19

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the gradual reopening, starting June 1, of some Corps-managed recreation areas along the Okeechobee Waterway that were closed to protect against the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). “The health and safety of our employees, volunteers, and visitors is our top priority. Our rangers have been hard at work, planning for the gradual reopening of our recreation facilities and implementing increased protection measures and signage to ensure everyone can enjoy our recreation areas safely and responsibly,” said Jeff Fallin, Chief of the South Florida Operations Office in Clewiston. “We know that everyone is looking forward to getting outside and returning to their favorite recreation areas, and appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during this unprecedented time.”
  • El Cuerpo de Ingenieros otorga fondos para el dragado de mantenimiento del Puerto de Mayagüez en Puerto Rico

    El Distrito de Jacksonville del Cuerpo de Ingenieros del Ejército de EE. UU. (USACE por sus siglas en ingles), otorgó $1.63 millones adicionales, el 21 de mayo, a un contrato emitido previamente a Weeks Marine, Inc., para el dragado de mantenimiento del Puerto de Arecibo. Estos fondos aumentan el monto total del contrato adjudicado en enero pasado a $6.3 millones y ahora incluye el dragado de mantenimiento del puerto de Mayagüez en Mayagüez, Puerto Rico.
  • Corps awards funding for Mayaguez Harbor maintenance dredging in Puerto Rico

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District awarded an additional $1.63 million, May 21, to a previously issued contract to Weeks Marine, Inc., for the Arecibo harbor maintenance dredging. The additional funding increases the total contract awarded this past January to $6.3 million and now includes maintenance dredging of the Mayaguez harbor in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
  • Corps opens public comment on construction of a Dredged Material Management Area in Martin County

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District opens public comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for construction of a dredged material management area (DMMA) at Site O-23 located in Martin County, Florida. Public comment will be accepted through June 18, 2020.
  • Corps opens public comment on Broward County Segment II beach renourishment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District opens public comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) regarding the continued periodic renourishment of Segment II, a part of the Broward County Shore Protection Project (BCSPP). Public comment will be accepted through June 18, 2020.
