Corps to reduce flows from Lake Okeechobee

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District plans to reduce flows from Lake Okeechobee this weekend as it begins a transition toward dry-season operations. Starting Friday (Oct. 28), the target flow for the Caloosahatchee Estuary will be reduced to a seven-day average of 2,800 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at W.P. Franklin Lock & Dam (S-79) located near Fort Myers. The target flow for the St. Lucie Estuary will be reduced to a seven-day average of 800 cfs as measured at St. Lucie Lock & Dam (S-80) near Stuart. Corps announces further reduction in Lake Okeechobee flows

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will reduce flows to the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie Estuaries for the third time in the past two weeks. Starting Friday (Oct. 21), the target flow for the Caloosahatchee Estuary will be reduced to 3,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at W.P. Franklin Lock & Dam (S-79) located near Fort Myers. Corps to reduce flows from Lake O; Hurricane Matthew damage assessment continues

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will reduce outflows from Lake Okeechobee this weekend as a result of receding water levels. Effective Friday (Oct. 14), the target flow for the Caloosahatchee Estuary is 4,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at Moore Haven Lock & Dam (S-77) located on the southwest side of the lake. The target flow for the St. Lucie Estuary is 1,800 cfs as measured at St. Lucie Lock & Dam (S-80) near Stuart. Additionally, the Corps continues to assist with post-Hurricane Matthew damage assessments around the state. [Read More]

Corps to maintain flows from Lake Okeechobee at current rates

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will continue releases of water from Lake Okeechobee at the same rates the agency announced last week. The target flow for the Caloosahatchee Estuary remains at 4,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at Moore Haven Lock & Dam (S-77) located on the southwest side of the lake. Corps awards contract for dike rehabilitation

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has awarded its second contract over the last 30 days to replace water control structures at Herbert Hoover Dike (HHD) surrounding Lake Okeechobee. The Corps awarded the contract on Friday (Sept. 16) for $27.7 million to Harry Pepper & Associates of Jacksonville, Fla. The contract calls for replacement of Culverts IP-1 (S-292) and IP-2 (S-290) along the Indian Prairie Canal in Glades County northwest of the lake. [Read More]

Lake Okeechobee flows to increase

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will increase flows from Lake Okeechobee to the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie Estuaries starting this weekend.
