St. Lucie Inlet Dredging Project update

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced today that dredging operations continue without delays on the St Lucie Inlet Navigation Project. The work is in response to impacts from Hurricane Sandy’s passage in 2012, and is 100% federally funded under the Flood Control and Coastal Emergency (FCCE) program. [Read More]

Palm Beach County Beach Erosion Control Project work update

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced today that construction activities are ongoing with the Palm Beach County Beach Erosion Control Project. The work is in response to impacts from Hurricane Sandy’s passage in 2012. Beach nourishment provides significant storm damage protection benefits for upland structures in addition to restoring shorebird and marine turtle habitat. [Read More]

Corps to close campgrounds, day use parks along Okeechobee Waterway

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will close all of its campgrounds and day-use parks at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The district previously announced it intended to keep these areas open as long as possible. Army Corps of Engineers waives fees on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 28

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) will waive day use fees at its more than 2,400 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in recognition of National Public Lands Day on Sept. 28. On this day, fees normally charged at boat launch ramps and swimming beaches will be waived. Locations in Florida include W.P. Franklin, Ortona and St. Lucie recreation areas. [Read More]
