USACE Jacksonville District issues scoping letter for the Cape Canaveral Wastewater Treatment Facility in east Brevard County

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District (USACE) is engaged with the City of Cape Canaveral to develop and construct a project under Section 14 of the Continuing Authorities Program (CAP) to address ongoing erosion at the Cape Canaveral Wastewater Treatment Facility (CCWWTF) in east Brevard County, Florida. The Jacksonville District is currently gathering information to define issues and concerns that will be addressed in an analysis to be prepared in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces two public scoping meetings and the opening of the public scoping comment period for the Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (BBSEER) Feasibility Study. Public scoping comments are due October 1, 2020.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District opens public comment on the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) regarding construction of features of the Picayune Strand Restoration Project (PSRP). Comments are due June 12, 2020.

Corps announces opening of comment period on RECOVER Northern Estuaries Salinity Envelope Performance Measure and public webinars

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces a public and agency review and comment period on the Draft RECOVER Northern Estuaries Draft Salinity Envelope Performance Measure. Comments are due May 28, 2020. Public webinars are scheduled for Wednesday April 29 at 10 a.m. and Tuesday May 5 at 1 p.m.

Corps announces public meetings for Loxahatchee River Watershed Restoration Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announces two public meetings regarding the Draft Integrated Project Implementation Report (PIR)/Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Loxahatchee River Watershed Restoration Project, part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). The public is invited to provide input during a public meeting on Thursday, April 18, 2019, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Town of Jupiter Community Center, Room A/B, 200 Military Trail, Jupiter, FL 33458. There will be an additional public meeting the following morning, Friday April 19, 2019, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the South Florida Water Management District, B-1 Auditorium, 3301 Gun Club Road, West Palm Beach, FL 33416.

Corps provides update on Everglades restoration

Jacksonville District Commander Col.Jason Kirk met with the U.S. Rep. Brian Mast to provide the latest information related to the Corps’ review of options under consideration to meet the state of Florida’s desire for a reservoir south of Lake Okeechobee. Col. Kirk spoke to reporters following the meeting.

Corps awards contract for Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands Project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District has awarded a construction contract that will help to restore critical water flow to Biscayne Bay as part of its ongoing efforts to restore America’s Everglades. The Corps awarded the construction contract for the L-31E Flow Way Culverts 712A and 712B to Sweat, LLC from Orange Park, Florida on Wednesday (Sept. 28) for $777,572.

A very happy group celebrated the St. Johns River Upper Basin Project’s completion Aug. 23 in a ceremony that honored men and women who carried-out a four-decade long vision. Today, it’s hailed as one of the world’s largest wetland restoration works of its kind.

Corps breaks ground on North Detention Area for Everglades project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, alongside federal, state and local officials, celebrated the start of construction on one of the three remaining contracts for the C-111 South Dade project, an Everglades restoration project in Miami-Dade County today. The contract, known as Contract 8, involves constructing the North Detention Area, which will connect the C-111 South Dade project to the Modified Water Deliveries to Everglades National Park project. These projects are Foundation Projects, which the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) builds upon to deliver essential restoration benefits to America’s Everglades.
