The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announces a Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) Project Delivery Team (PDT) Meeting, to be held Friday, May 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The LOSOM PDT has developed an array of balanced plans, based on the in-depth input we have received from the LOSOM sub teams, stakeholders, and members of the public.

“The LOSOM team has been listening to and coordinating closely with our stakeholders and members of the public since January of 2019,” said Tim Gysan. “We really appreciate all of the valuable input we’ve gotten over the past several years, as well as the ongoing interest, investment of time, and continued engagement in the effort to develop a balanced plan.’

“We will be rolling out the array of balanced schedules at the PDT Meeting in May. We will work through the details of each schedule and how they seek to honor the perspectives we have heard on balanced performance. The team will be looking for feedback from the PDT and the public on how these balanced plans seek to address all of the project purposes – flood control, water supply, navigation, recreation, and preservation of fish and wildlife, while also providing improved memory, flexibility and balance,” said Gysan.

“Our goal is to have a tentatively selected plan or TSP by July 2021, the release of a draft NEPA document for public comment by January 2022, the release of a final NEPA document by July of 2022, and a Record of Decision by October of 2022, so that we have the best possible plan ready to implement as soon as the Herbert Hoover Dike Rehabilitation is complete at the end of 2022.”

The Project Delivery Team (PDT) members include only the federal officials and elected officers of state, local or tribal governments or their designated employees with authority to act on their behalf acting in their official capacities.

Members of the public (PUBLIC) are welcome to attend the government agency PDT meeting and provide comment during the designated Public Comment periods.

*PLEASE log into the webinar first and have it call your phone in order to avoid background noise so all participants can hear the discussion clearly.

Please mute your phone and mute your computer upon joining the meeting. All lines except those who are scheduled to speak will be muted during the meeting.
