Corps of Engineers to host meeting for Rio Grande de Manati Study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public meeting to share the tentative results for the Rio Grande de Manati feasibility study in Ciales, Puerto Rico.

The meeting will take place Sunday, March 8, 2020, starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Iglesia Alianza Cristiana y Misionera located at PR-146, kilometer 28.1, Ciales, PR, 00638.

The study is being conducted by the Corps’ Pittsburgh District in collaboration with the Jacksonville District and the non-federal sponsor, the Puerto Rico Department of Natural and Environmental Resources. The study team will also provide comments about the possible options for flood-risk management in the region. The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and comment on the proposed plan.

The meeting will start with a formal presentation, followed by a question and answer session. National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) comments can be officially submitted in writing at the meeting.

The comment period is 30-days for the draft Integrated Feasibility Report, Environmental Assessment, and Finding of No Significant Impact prepared for the Rio Grande de Manati Flood-Risk Management Study.

All public comments should be received or postmarked on or before March 27, 2020 to ensure consideration. Mail should be sent to the Planning and Environmental Branch, William S. Moorhead Federal Building, 1000 Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15222. Emails can be submitted to lrp.plan.enviro@usace.army.mil. Comments submitted via email must include "Rio Grande de Manati" in the email subject line.
