• Two-part LOSOM Project Delivery Team Technical Workshop scheduled for April 12 and 16

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announces a two-part Technical Workshop for the Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) Project Delivery Team (PDT), to be held Monday, April 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Friday, April 16 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The presentations and discussions will be different on each day of the workshop.

  • USACE Adjusts Lake Okeechobee Releases

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will reduce Lake Okeechobee releases to the Caloosahatchee River to 1,500 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam (S-79) beginning Saturday while making no changes to the current 500 cfs flow out of the St. Lucie Lock and Dam (S-80) that began March 6.

  • USACE seeks public comment on Indian River Lagoon - South C-23/C-24 Reservoirs and STA

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announces public comment on the Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for proposed design refinements to the Indian River Lagoon - South (IRL-S) Project, specifically to the C-23 and C-24 features in St. Lucie County. The IRL-S Project is one project that is part of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). Public comments are due Wednesday, April 21.
  • North Brevard shore protection renourishment to begin late March

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville will begin beach re-nourishment of the North Reach section of its Brevard County Shore Protection Project on or about March 20.
  • USACE announces public comment on proposed seepage cutoff wall in the 8.5 Square Mile Area

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces a 30-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the South Florida Water Management District’s (SFWMD) proposed construction of a seepage cutoff wall in the L-357W levee. The Jacksonville District, in response to a request from the SFWMD, is evaluating a modification to an existing Central and Southern Florida (C&SF) Project pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408) to improve seepage management in the 8.5 Square Mile Area (SMA), also known as the Las Palmas community. The proposed action would be in Miami-Dade County. Improved seepage management would allow for greater operational flexibility of the Central and Southern Florida Project. Comments are due April 9, 2021.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announces an informational meeting on the Preliminary Project Operating Manual (PPOM) for the Indian River Lagoon – South (IRL-S) C-44 Project, to be held Thursday, April 8 at 5:30 p.m.
  • USACE begins releases to St. Lucie March 6

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will begin 500 cubic feet per second (cfs) pulse releases from the St. Lucie Lock and Dam (S-80) beginning Saturday, March 6, as part of a planned deviation approved in September 2020 to reduce the risk of large lake releases during the rainy season when harmful algal blooms are more likely to be present.
