The Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Team Logo - Cutting through the Red Tape Kim Taplin led the dedicated Central Everglades Planning Project Team, to restore the heart of the Everglades. It was the most comprehensive and complex of six planning studies chosen for the Corps’ National Pilot Program for SMART Planning. Under Kim's leadership, the team successfully completed the study in three years and it was authorized as a $2 billion dollar plan of system modifications to restore the Central portion of the Everglades. They demonstrated that the Corps planning process could be condensed down from the typical time of six to eight years down to only three.
