Guajataca Dam
Following Hurricane Maria, FEMA tasked the Corps of Engineers to provide technical assistance to PREPA to prevent collapse of the damaged spillway. Work continues on Interim Risk Reduction Measures; recently, the contractor completed key-in features for stone revetment and continue to fill the spillway with rock fill and stone, known as riprap, and high strength flowable fill which will assist in preventing damage during periods of floods or heavy seasonal rains. Repairing the Guajataca Dam is essential to providing significant benefits to the people of Puerto Rico, its businesses, critical infrastructure and the environment.
