1. DESCRIPTION

The Rivers and Harbors Act of 1962 authorized the project as a reimbursable project for Jupiter Carlin, Ocean Ridge, North Boca Raton, and Delray Beach segments.

4. STATUS

In FY14, 2nd periodic nourishment of Ocean Ridge and 6th periodic nourishment of Delray Beach were completed. The 3rd periodic nourishment of North Boca Raton was completed in 1st quarter of FY15. The nourishments were accomplished in response to impacts encountered due to Hurricane Sandy. 
A renourishment contract was completed in 2010 by the City of Boca Raton. A final reimbursement payment, in the amount of $4,179,955, was issued to the City of North Boca for the Federal share of total projects costs through the second periodic nourishment event. This has satisfied all reimbursement requirements for the Federal share for the North Boca Raton segment.
In FY14 the Corps reimbursed Palm Beach County $201,922.90 for all outstanding costs associated with the initial construction of Ocean Ridge segment. These reimbursements have satisfied all reimbursement requirements for the Federal share for the Ocean Ridge segment.
In FY14, the Corps reimbursed the City of Delray Beach $5,217,164.44 for the 4th and 5th nourishments of Delray Beach segment. In addition, the City of Delray Beach completed a nourishment in 2013. An audit will be conducted to determine the reimbursement amount for this event. All reimbursement for the Federal share of the Delray Beach Segment will not be satisfied until an audit is completed for all costs associated with the City’s 2013 event.
In FY16, in response to Hurricane Matthew, PIR’s were prepared for the North Boca Raton, Delray Beach, and Jupiter Carlin segments. All three reports determined the project segments were not eligible for assistance.
In FY18, in response to Hurricane Irma, PIR’s were prepared for the Jupiter Carlin, Ocean Ridge, Delray Beach and segments. All four reports were submitted to SAD and are currently under review as of March 2018.
The Corps currently has ongoing efforts to prepare and complete a Section 934 (WRDA 1996) report for the Jupiter Carlin segment scheduled for June 2018. The Section 934 Report will extend Federal participation to 50 years.
