Intracoastal Waterway Caloosahatchee River to Anclote River (O&M)

1. DESCRIPTION

A channel 9 feet by 100 feet from Caloosahatchee River to Anclote River. Waterway includes existing improved channels in Pine Island Sound from Punta Rossa to Charlotte Harbor, in the entrance to Roberts Bay at Casey’s Pass, in Little Sarasota Bay and Sarasota Bay from Nokomis to Tampa Bay, and in Boca Ciega Bay from Tampa Bay to Clearwater Harbor; Length of project waterway is approximately 160 miles.

4. STATUS

The Corps is completing a Dredge Readiness and Operations Plan (DROP) for the 160-mile Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW). The plan will outline maintenance dredging locations and anticipated completion timeframes for identified dredging priorities. It is anticipated that all required dredging will take place over the next 10-15 years, including a 2018 dredging event at Venice Inlet.
