1. DESCRIPTION

San Juan Harbor is located on the north coast of Puerto Pico and is the Island’s principal port. The majority of the commonwealth’s waterborne cargo and cruise ships pass through San Juan Harbor. The harbor currently experiences shipping inefficiencies due to limited channel depth and width along with navigation restrictions. The Recommended Plan includes widening and deepening the inner harbor channels leading to several petroleum terminal operators within the Army Terminal Turning Basin and deepening the federal channels leading to the cruise ship terminals.
