1. DESCRIPTION

Jacksonville Harbor is located in Duval County, Florida. The Harbor consists of 20 river miles starting at the mouth of the St. Johns River where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean and extends to the Talleyrand Marine Terminal in downtown Jacksonville. The authorized project (WRRDA 2014) includes deepening the federal channel from 40 feet to 47 feet from the entrance channel to approximately River Mile 13, with two areas of widening at the Training Wall Reach and St. Johns Bluff Reach and two new turning basins at Blount Island and Brills Cut to accommodate the growing fleet of post-Panamax shipping lines.

4. STATUS

The deepening project (including all 3 awarded contracts) was successfully completed in June 2021 under budget and ahead of schedule. Post-construction environmental monitoring will continue for up to 10 years post-construction as per the authorized report.
