1. DESCRIPTION

The work consists of maintenance dredging the 38-foot slip basin at the U.S. Marine Support Facility Blount Island, Jacksonville, Florida.

4. STATUS

Approximately 125,000 cubic yards is maintenance dredged every year. Dredged material is placed in the Dayson Island upland disposal area. Effort in FY20 includes condition surveys, plans and specifications, and award of the O&M dredging contract. The next maintenance dredging event is scheduled for award in June 2020. In addition, a contract was awarded in September 2019 to remove a reinforced concrete sill which is a limiting factor for overall depth in the slipway. It will take over a year to remove the concrete sill. Work is scheduled for completion in December 2020.
